Lipstick Tips and Tricks Everyone Should Know

Happy August! I want to share with you guys some tips and tricks that every person should know if you love wearing lipstick. These tips will help make your lipstick last longer, not smudge, and look bolder. Hope this helps!

Apply lip balm before applying color

Applying lip balm before applying color will ensure to make the color bolder and go on smoother. It will also help prevent the color from settling on the cracked skin. My all-time favorite lip balm is ‘The Lip Balm’ by La Mer!

Correct edges with concealer

This is a classic trick that many people have been doing, but it is worth mentioning anyway. This helps clean up around the lips if the color smudged or bled to the skin, and to make the color pop. It works especially well with a bold color!

Blot and then reapply color

No matter what, I always blot to remove excess product after putting on my lip color. Then I put on more color after doing so. This helps to really build up product in a non-cakey way, as well as to help your lipstick last much longer.

Place powder over color

To make your lipstick matte, place a tissue over your lips after you applied the lipstick and then swipe a little bit of powder. This also helps to remove excess product and make the color last longer.

Clean up and smudge edges with a q-tip

A tip from Wendy Rowe: grab a q-tip and smudge the edges of your lipstick. This helps prevent bleeding as well as to give that lived-in look. I love this trick! Also works especially well with a bold lip.

great tips! chapstick before is a lifesaver – and it’s also great because you can dilute colors that might otherwise be too intense 🙂
